"Training boy leaders to run their troop is the Scoutmaster’s most important job.";

Hello, and welcome to Troop 39's home pages. Thanks for visiting us!

Troop 39 was started in 1952 by the Cumming Kiwanis Club (thanks, Kiwanians!) Today we are one of the most active outdoor Scout Troops in the Etowah District and the Northeast Georgia Council. We count dozens of Eagle Scouts as "Troop 39 Alumni" and thanks to the wonderful support of our parents and my fellow adult leaders, we continue to grow (and go!) year after year.  We celebrated our 50th anniversary in May 2002.

Troop 39 is a Scout-run troop.  We have boys ages 11 through 18 active in our troop, where we focus on running a boy-run troop.  This means adults helping provide the needed structure to support and mentor the older scouts and to help them train the younger scouts.  U.S. Scouting legend Green Bar Bill Hilcourt said "Train 'em, Teach 'em, and Let THEM lead!"

If you're interested in the outdoors and in learning more about leadership, we'd invite you to check us out.  Our outdoor program is second-to-none, with plenty of new things to do and new friends to do it with.
