“Training [youth] leaders to run their troop is the Scoutmaster\u2019s most important job.” <\/strong> Hello, and welcome to Troop 39 and Troop 5039!\u00a0<\/p>\n Troop 39 was founded in 1952 by the Cumming Kiwanis Club (thank you, Kiwanians!). In 2024, Troop 5039 was established, offering the same great Scouting experience for girls under our shared charter organization, VFW Post 9143. Today, we are two of the most active outdoor Scout troops in the <\/span>Etowah District<\/a> and the <\/span>Northeast Georgia Council<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n Over the years, dozens of Eagle Scouts have called Troop 39 home, and thanks to the incredible support of our parents and adult leaders, we continue to grow\u2014and go on amazing adventures\u2014every year!<\/p>\n Our troops welcome boys and girls ages 10 to 17, and we take pride in running a scout-led program. This means our youth leaders take charge, while adult leaders provide structure, mentorship, and guidance. As Scouting legend William ‘Green Bar Bill’ Hillcourt said:<\/p>\n \u201cTrain ’em, Teach ’em, and Let THEM lead!\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n If your youth is interested in the outdoors and developing leadership skills, we invite you to check us out! Our outdoor program is second to none, offering exciting monthly outings, hands-on Scout skill development, adventure, and lasting friendships.<\/p>\n “Your life as a Scout will make you strong and self-reliant.
