Our Scoutmasters: David Adams & Audra Hart
“Training [youth] leaders to run their troop is the Scoutmaster’s most important job.”
~ Lord Baden-Powell
Hello, and welcome to Troop 39 and Troop 5039. Thanks for visiting us!
Troop 39 was started in 1952 by the Cumming Kiwanis Club (thanks, Kiwanians!). Troop 5039, our girl troop, was started in 2024. Today, we are two of the most active outdoor Scout Troops in the Etowah District and the Northeast Georgia Council. We count dozens of Eagle Scouts as “Troop 39 Alumni” and thanks to the wonderful support of our parents and our fellow adult leaders, we continue to grow (and go!) year after year. We have been an active troop for over 70 years!
We have boys and girls ages 10 through 17 active in our troops, where we focus on a scout led program. This means adults helping provide the needed structure to support and mentor the older scouts and to help them train the younger scouts. U.S. Scouting legend Green Bar Bill Hilcourt said “Train ’em, Teach ’em, and Let THEM lead!”
If you’re interested in the outdoors and learning more about leadership, we invite you to check us out. Our outdoor program is second-to-none, with plenty of new things to do and new friends to do it with.
